Our German retreat location: Bodenmais, Bavaria
The retreat takes place in Bodenmais, the award winning holiday destination in the Bavarian Forest national park in Germany. The village is situated at 750m above sea level and is surrounded by a primeval pine forest and mountains like the Silberberg (955m) or Großer Arber (1456m).
Bodenmais is certified as an air spa thanks to its exceptional air quality that facilitates wellbeing and a healthy body. It is one of the most sought after spa, wellness and retreat locations in Bavaria with its green landscapes.
The region offers a large variety of outdoor activities and events where you can embrace Bavarian customs and traditions and feel like a local. The climate make it a perfect holiday destination all year round with 85 miles of well maintained hiking trails of which 45 miles are groomed in winter awaiting you. Many trails start conveniently at the doorstep of the retreat location Haus Sonnenfels.
Haus Sonnenfels lies on top of the stunning Bodenmais village, right at the edge of the forest in perfect tranquility with stunning views down the valley and its surrounding mountains and forests. The perfect spot to disconnect and recharge for you!
How to get to us
The nearest airport is Munich (1.5 hours drive) with several public transit connections and rental car options from 15-20 EUR per day.
Alternative airports are Salzburg, Prague, Memmingen, Nürnberg (approx. 3 hours drive) with flights including and local rental car company options as well as public transport. For your flight options check out or www.kayak.com.
From Ireland, Ryanair flies once a day early in the morning from Dublin to Munich (Erding) and late in the evening from Munich (Erding) to Dublin for very competitive prices.
For public transport from Munich airport, you can either take a train to the local station Regen (most connections via Plattling) from Freising (or Munich Central station) accessible via an S-Bahn/bus ride from Munich airport. The "Bayern Ticket"is the ideal ticket to get to us as it is valid on local trains, buses and tram rides to get to us. It costs 25 EUR for one person, and an additional 7 EUR for the 2-5 additional people.
We can pick you up at the station in Regen if you decide to travel by train. Regular coaches (like Flixbus) run to Deggendorf on a daily basis, where you can then take a train further to Regen for a free pick-up.
